Anatomy and Physiology (Part 9): The Digestive System
The digestive tract, or gastrointestinal tract, begins at the mouth and ends at the anus. It is, in fact, a coiled tube that is open at both ends. It passes all the way through the body. We therefore consider anything that is in the gastrointestinal tract as outside of the body, like a straw anything with water flowing through an apple, the water in fact never comes into contact with the apple.
